What is Fresh from the Garden about?
This project is my Girl Scout Gold Award which is the highest award a Girl scout can receive. The Coronavirus took the world by surprise, we did not expect to be in lockdown or not able to carry on with our daily lives. When my mother went to our local grocery store, not only toilet paper and wipes were not available, fresh produce also was not available on the shelves. I was shocked and was feeling uneasy at the fact that something as easy as grabbing a cucumber and tomato at the grocery store, may no longer be an option. This is how I realized that growing a garden and other types of vegetables wasn’t difficult at all!
Objectives
With the help of my team, to encourage people of all ages to start a garden and educate them about the may benefits that come with gardening. I will also be giving away seedlings, grown from a method called Winter Sowing. By June 2021, we hope to distribute these seedlings to members of my community who have been following us through this journey. My goal is to have more than 100 vegetables and flowers to share with the community.
